Konark Sun Temple
It was built in the 13th century by King Narasimhadeva I of the Ganga dynasty. Its artworks amaze. It is one of the finest specimens of Kalinga architecture. It is said that the Sun Temple was built in such a way that the first rays of the sun fall directly on the place of worship and the idol of the Lord.
Everyone was upset, but there was a panic that if the king found out that a 12-year-old child had fixed a Vastu problem that the genius experts could not do, he would kill them. Hearing this, Dharmapada jumped into the Chandrabhaga waterway from the highest point of the sanctuary.
Fictional Beliefs About the Sanctuary
According to a fictional belief, Samba, the son of Shri Krishna, had a disease due to this insult. To resolve this, the Samba retaliated for a very long time at Konark connecting the Chandrabhaga waterway to Mitravan. After which the Sun king freed him from this infection.
