New York City of Skyscrapers

Tower One of the World Trade Center in New York has been completed. This 541-meter-high tower is a prominent building in Manhattan and one of the tallest skyscrapers in the Western world.

A symbol of modernity and a glimpse of the future, this building is also like a ray of hope for this city.
But this new skyscraper has its roots in an old and extinct world.
Not only Tower One, but all the other skyscrapers of New York have their roots in the past world.
Almost all high-rise buildings in New York are found in only two areas, Downtown, which is called the economic capital of New York, and Midtown, where the Empire State Building is located.
Geoscientist Professor Yann Stewart of Plymuth University has made a documentary for 'BBC-Two' that goes a long way in understanding New York's past.

According to Professor Stewart, the rocks under Manhattan are known as Manhattan Schist.

The minerals found in these rocks help to understand the ancient history of America and the mystery of Manhattan's skyscrapers.

Professor Stewart was doing research about a mineral named 'Kyanite'.

According to him, "This blue-colored mineral, which is seen everywhere in Manhattan, is formed under extreme pressure very deep inside the earth." This mineral is like a figure print from which a lot of information is available.

The presence of this mineral suggests that the Manhattan Schist was formed about 300 million years ago. According to him, two large landmasses had merged together due to which a supercontinent named 'Pangaea' was formed.

When both the lands met, the stones on their sides joined together and rose up like a mountain. The Manhattan Schist was buried 13 km below this new mountain range.
